Ellensburg, WA (November 19, 2020) – This #GivingTuesday, Court Advocates for Children will inspire generosity by continuing to promote the need for best interest advocacy for the abused and neglected children in Kittitas County.
#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. #GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.
With the onset of COVID-19, no one could have imagined the dramatic changes to which we would all have to adapt. Some might say this has been the most isolating time in our history.
During the pandemic, families have been quarantined and separated for months from their loved ones to stay healthy. Imagine what It has been like for the children in Kittitas County who were removed from their homes and placed in foster care during that time – all while coping with the trauma of abuse or neglect.
Court Advocates for Children and nearly 25 volunteers have seen firsthand the pandemic’s impact on the 105 children and families we are currently serving. This includes the disruption of children’s support networks and the suspension of critically important services like visitation with family, therapy, and special education services.
More than ever our program staff and volunteers need your help to continue to provide best interest advocacy for the abused and neglected children in our county. Court Advocates for Children hopes you will participate in #GivingTuesday and Change a Child’s Story™.

Whether it is helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. #GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 21 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.

Court Advocates for Children humbly asks for your support. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer advocate or perhaps would like to donate to the program, we would be grateful. We are currently advocating for over 100 children in Kittitas County and have 25 volunteers to do so. It costs about $1400 per child per year to effectively advocate on their behalf. About Court Advocates for Children: Court Advocates for Children was established as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1985 under the leadership of Kittitas County Superior Court Judge JoAnne Alumbaugh with the vision of a community that is aware of and committed to the efforts of volunteer court appointed special advocates (CASAs) to secure safe, permanent, and loving homes for abused and neglected children in Kittitas County. The Court Advocates for Children program serves children from birth through eighteen years old.
